On Saturday, November 11th, and Sunday, November 12th, 2023, a moment of great innovation and commitment took place in Courmayeur with the Climathon Courmayeur organized by the Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini. It is a 24-hour hackathon that brings together citizens, entrepreneurs, representatives from the tourism sector, and researchers to creatively address the challenge of climate change in mountain areas.
This event is part of the Courmayeur Climate HUB project promoted by the Municipality of Courmayeur and funded by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU fund, as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The Courmayeur hackathon is part of a global movement supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, aimed at raising awareness about climate change issues and addressing the specific challenges of territories through the development of innovative ideas, actively involving citizens.
As in the previous 2019 edition, participants were divided into small groups and competed to find concrete solutions on the themes of water resources, sustainable mobility, and innovation in recycling.
At the end of the competition, a panel of experts selected the best project for each challenge category, awarding a cash prize.
In this year's edition, we are pleased to announce that the GdgRDItaly team (with the participation of Coralie Pellissier and Valerio Falcicchio for Team RDITALY) won the prize in the "Solutions for sustainable mobility in mountain areas" category with their Smart Bus project. This innovative application optimizes public transportation service in Valle d'Aosta using user-provided data, allowing the algorithm to create optimized shared pickup routes. A great success that demonstrates the commitment and creativity of the participants in addressing the environmental challenges of our time.
The TEDxCourmayeur is an event that transforms the atmosphere of the renowned TED into a highly evocative and exclusive setting, reflecting the spirit of the majestic mountains surrounding Courmayeur. The main goal of TEDxCourmayeur is to create a memorable experience enriched with high-level cultural and scientific content, thanks to the participation of various personalities, mainly from the Aosta Valley, capable of offering perspectives beyond conventional boundaries.
The event took place on July 23, 2023, on the summit of the Skyway di Courmayeur, in collaboration with the Institut Agricole Régional and the Mavel edt of Pont-Saint-Martin, where the "Be The Founder" workshop was held.
During this event, startups and realities from the Aosta Valley had the opportunity to present their innovative projects, asking participants to contribute ideas that could come to life in the splendid Aosta Valley. The enthusiasm and commitment of the participants generated insights of great interest and inspiration.
For the Guidexpress project, this was an extraordinary opportunity not only to share ideas and grow but also to enjoy a day of relaxation immersed in the extraordinary beauty of Mont Blanc.
The pitch was delivered by CEO Coralie Pellissier.
On September 30, 2023, was a special date, marked by the celebration of the Italian Night of Researchers at the charming Ferme du Montfleury, organized by the Regional Agricultural Institute.
The event offered an engaging and informative experience divided into two distinct moments:
In the morning, we welcomed students from local schools, offering them the opportunity to explore the services we offer.
In the afternoon and evening, our stand hosted local authorities, organizations, and the interested public, eager to learn more about our reality.
The team composed of Coralie Pellissier and Valerio Falcicchio was the protagonist of the day, presenting their extraordinary project Guidexpress. It was surprising to note the enormous interest generated especially among the young visitors, who showed particular enthusiasm in discovering the potential of this innovative initiative.
The Italian Night of Researchers was an extraordinary opportunity to share our passions, discoveries, and innovations with the local community, demonstrating our commitment to promoting research and innovation in the territory.
